A few days ago, I had a good time catching up with my old friends/colleagues from AFP in Bangsar. (L-R) Roslan Rahman, Jewel Samad & me. We played pool at Social and had supper at Nirvana mamak. It was good to see them again and catch up on old times. They are here to cover the F1 Grand Prix this weekend. I should mention that they have new toys from the company – the Nikon D3. This picture was shot with the D3 and the AMAZING new Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 lens. It’s bloody huge and heavy but I’m amazed at how sharp the image is, even at the corners.
If you are not familiar with my good friends, Roslan is based in Singapore. He is one of the most senior photojournalists in AFP and he’s covered Iraq twice. Jewel is one of the best shooters in AFP based in Jakarta, he’s gone to Iraq 4 times.. he’s a crazy guy.. I think he’s got ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). He can’t sit in one place for too long.. that’s the effects of being a photojournalist who travels everywhere all the time, covering all kinds of stories.
